Coffee Talk [April 2017]
Hi, friends! How was your weekend? I had a really nice weekend with Ryan. We grabbed dinner with friends in Philly (at Sate Kampar — have you guys been?! So good!), went to my cousin’s 1st birthday party, and spent plenty of time walking & soaking up the beautiful weather. I’m back with another edition of Coffee Talk (my first one was in February — time flies!), so sit back & grab your favorite cup of coffee. Let’s chat!
1 // I got to meet Athena – in real life!
I was so excited that I got to meet Athena of Achieve With Athena “in real life” last week! Athena visited NJ for a meeting & it gave us the perfect opportunity to meet up! I’ve read Athena’s blog for years (back when it was Fitness & Feta) and always thought we had so much in common.
Athena also took a leap last year when she left her position as Wellness Coordinator to start Achieve With Athena. It’s so nice to chat with someone who not only understands what I do, but how it feels to go through starting your own business. Not that I expected otherwise, but Athena was even lovelier in person than I could have hoped for. I am so excited to watch her business grow ☺️
2 // Intentionally Spending Time Outdoors
I know I talk a lot about it here & also with my coaching clients, but it’s so helpful to intentionally make space in your life for those experiences or feelings you want more of in your life. For me, I know I feel better when I get a little sun & fresh air each day. We’re finally turning the corner into Spring, so I’ve intentionally spent more time outside each day. To get some quiet time (and time to unplug!), I take my lunch outside and eat on the porch or back deck. I also try to take a short break each day to take at least a 15-minute walk before or after lunch.
These days, I also try to take my workouts outside when I can. I love going to the gym, but I try to savor those perfect Spring days by skipping the gym in lieu of an outdoor workout. Yesterday I did step-ups, air squats, and incline push-ups on a park bench 3x through. So quick & easy!
3 // Philly Magazine Article (Be Well Philly)
I was so excited that an article I wrote came out on Philly Mag’s website last week! If you missed it, you can read it here. It’s all about getting “unstuck” in any area of your life — relationships, career, health, or anything in between — and moving forward to make positive changes.
I was so happy to hear from people that it inspired or spoke to them! That was the purpose of writing it, and so I am so glad the article fulfilled its purpose.
4 // Citrus Avocado Mason Jar Salads
I love this citrus avocado salad at b.Good near me, so I decided to re-create it at home. I had a busy week last week, so mason jar salads were the way to go. I’ve been sharing this recipe with my clients, too ☺️
It has greens, shredded chicken, pistachios, goat cheese, grapefruit, cara cara orange, shaved fennel, and citrus dressing. YUM!
5 // New Q&A Series
I am so excited about my new Q&A blog post series that started last week! Did you guys read my post with Ashley of Heart Beet Kitchen? I loved it!
The purpose of the Q&A series is to inspire you to live fully by highlighting women who live intentionally, work towards their purpose, & redefine happiness & what it means to work. The 2nd post in the series will be this Thursday, featuring my friend & health coach colleague, Simi Botic!
I hope you enjoy the interviews as much as I enjoyed writing them!
