What is Turmeric?

Did you guys know that certain foods naturally have anti-inflammatory properties to them, like turmeric root?  Turmeric is a member of the ginger family and has this beautiful bright orange color.  You can buy fresh turmeric root at several specialty grocery stores (I know Wegmans and Whole Foods carry it).  But you can also buy ground turmeric root in powder form.
